The Running 4 Women Foundation was set up to help address the problems faced by young women and their families living in some of the world's poorest regions. We aim to provide sporting, educational and career opportunities for young women; promote health awareness, and provide a variety of support networks.

Our Objectives

The Foundation’s main objective is to assist girls and young women living in poverty in rural and marginalised areas of Kenya, who have sporting talents which can be developed for the betterment of their and their families’ future.
Developing Sporting Opportunities

Our main aim is to give young women the opportunity to be successful on the world sporting stage, thereby enabling them to break away from the traditional female role in Kenya, become financially independent, and hence improve the lives of their extended families.

Improving Education

A key objective is to further young women’s education in Kenya, particularly where HIV/AIDS is concerned, and to enable them to be involved in their own decision making – something which has traditionally been undertaken by the male.
Our Supporting Objectives:

To engage in research on issues affecting girl’s education; youth-related activities; and sports in the various cultures prevailing in Kenya.

To provide technical assistance to the local communities through feasibility studies and design & development programmes for youth-related activities – specifically in the areas of projects assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and report writing.

To enhance career path awareness in the local communities through training, dissemination of knowledge and by offering guidance and economic support to young people.

To establish a centre for training, and to assist institutions in providing information on the effects of abortion, child prostitution, sex abuse and alcoholism.

To identify, gather and disseminate resources for the purposes of promoting youth-related projects.

To identify young people’s training needs; sponsor places in schools, colleges and other institutions; develop educational curricula, and plan training programmes. In addition, we aim to identify vocational training needs; help set up, and otherwise assist, vocational training institutions to enable young women to engage in gainful entrepreneurial activities such as professional sports.

To create HIV/ AIDS awareness and support, and to collaborate with other organisations working with young people to combat and reduce the incidence of HIV/AIDS in Kenya.

To bring together in conference representatives of voluntary organisations, governments, statutory authorities and individuals.

To collect and disseminate information on all matters affecting the above, and exchange such information with other bodies having similar objectives in Africa and overseas.

To purchase, take on lease, exchange, hire, or otherwise acquire any property and any right and privileges necessary for the promotion of the above-mentioned objectives, and construct, maintain and alter any buildings or erections necessary for the work of the organisation.

To acquire any movable and immovable property including land, buildings, vehicles and office equipment for the promotion of the organisation’s objectives.

To do all such things that are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any of the above objectives.
